Weather Update
Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi
Here’s a little heads-up for everyone, it looks like Fiji is preparing for a wet and wild time! A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is buzzing through most parts of the Fiji Group faster than a tropical fruit cocktail at a beach party. So grab those umbrellas because the sky has got some serious business planned!
On to the coastal areas of Lau and Lomaiviti—thank you, but you’ll have to keep your toes dry today as a Coastal Inundation Alert is still waving its red flag. The good news? The alert for Sigatoka, Coral Coast, and several other areas has been lifted! You can go back to sunbathing now… well, sort of.
Here’s what’s happening: an east to northeast wind flow is making itself cozy over Fiji, while a mischievous trough of low pressure is creeping in from the west like it owns the place. This means a moist wind flow will glide over the islands starting tomorrow afternoon, so expect clouds and rain to become your new best friends until Saturday morning.
Here’s your forecast to midnight tomorrow:
For Lau and Lomaiviti groups: Keep an eye on the high tides, as there might be a little flooding. It’s like the ocean is trying to remind us who’s boss.
For the rest of the places:
Cloudy with showers today in areas like Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and more. It’s like the clouds are throwing a shade party, and everyone’s invited! Mainly fine elsewhere, so you might still catch some rays in spots.
Tomorrow, though, get ready for rain to debut from the west, performing a slow creep across the Fiji group. Expect a little drama in the form of occasional heavy rain and a dash of thunderstorm flair starting tomorrow afternoon—cue the lightning!
Now, here’s what Friday looks like: More of the same! Rain, heavy at times, with some of those exciting thunderstorms. But fear not, the sun will peek through later in the day from the west.
For specific areas like Navua, Suva, Nausori, Nadi, Lautoka, and everywhere in between, expect some showers with getting-down-to-business rain rolling in tomorrow afternoon.
Even the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups aren’t escaping the clouds with occasional rain planned for the forecast. So it’s time to put those tropical beach plans on a rain delay!
And if you’re on Rotuma, please note there’s a STRONG WIND WARNING for you folks. It’s going to be gusty—hang onto your hats and anything else that might go flying!
So there you have it, a forecast with enough drama to rival a reality TV show. Stay dry, stay safe, and remember, no storm lasts forever!
