Weather Update
Grab your umbrellas and hold on to your hats, because it looks like the weather is brewing up a storm!

As of 10:45 AM on Thursday, January 23, 2025, a friendly (but slightly damp) northeast wind is making its way across Fiji. In the meantime, a low-pressure trough is on a slow-motion approach from the southwest, bringing along its entourage of clouds and showers starting later today.

Here’s the scoop for the Fiji group until midnight tomorrow:

In Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Ra, Naitasiri, eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, Kadavu, Taveuni, and our lovely smaller islands, don’t forget your raincoats! Expect lots of cloudy periods accompanied by some showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two trying to steal the spotlight in the afternoon or evening. And listen closely—isolated heavy rainfall might decide to crash the party, leading to flash flooding in those pesky low-lying and flood-prone areas.

For the rest of our beautiful Fiji, you’ll find partly cloudy skies with a chance of afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms trying their best to make an appearance—just like an uninvited guest. And yes, isolated heavy falls are still on the agenda, with the same potential for localized flooding in those trickster spots.

Meanwhile, expect some hot and humid conditions with temperatures soaring between 33-35 degrees Celsius. So, it might be a good day for a cold drink—just make sure it’s not too close to the edge of the table when those gusty winds arrive!

The weekend forecast for Saturday looks similar—occasional rain and a few thunderstorms will show up particularly over the Yasawa Group, Northern regions, and various corners of Viti Levu. Elsewhere, conditions will remain partially cloudy with isolated showers and thunderstorms, especially when the sun sets.

And just a friendly reminder: isolated heavy falls could lead to flash flooding of low-lying areas, so always know your escape routes!

So, whether you’re in Navua, Lautoka, Sigatoka, or Rotuma—keep those umbrellas handy and prepare for a splashy weekend! Just be cautious with those heavy falls; they seem intent on showing off!

Stay dry and spirited, Fiji!
