Severe Weather Alert: Flooding Risks Escalate in Fiji

A severe rain warning is currently in effect for Viti Levu, the Yasawa and Mamanuca Islands, Kadavu, as well as the nearby islands of Moala and the Southern Lau Group. Additionally, a flash flood alert has been issued for all low-lying and flood-prone regions of Viti Levu. The Nadi Weather Office reports that a trough of low pressure is positioned just south of the islands, bringing significant cloud cover that is impacting most areas of the country. Furthermore, another active trough of low pressure is anticipated to bring additional clouds and rain beginning tonight. There is a risk of localized heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding in vulnerable low-lying regions.
