Severe Weather Alert: Flash Floods Loom Over Eastern Fiji

A trough of low pressure is projected to primarily impact the eastern regions of Fiji. This information was confirmed by forecasters at the Fiji Meteorological Service in Nadi.

A heavy rain warning has been issued, detailing the areas within Fiji that will experience significant rainfall throughout the week. The Fiji Meteorological Service has cautioned that heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding in low-lying regions, particularly in Navua, Suva, and Nausori, accompanied by occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Looking ahead to Thursday, sporadic rain is expected, which may be heavy at times with potential thunderstorms. The heavy rain could result in flash flooding in low-lying areas, particularly for Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba, with cloudy conditions and showers more likely in the afternoon or evening.

Additional localized heavy rainfall may result in flash flooding in low-lying areas. For Labasa, occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are anticipated to continue through Friday.
