Weather Update
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 7:30pm, Thursday, February 19, 2026
Hold on to your umbrellas, folks! We’ve got severe thunderstorm warnings for heavy rainfall swooping in on the northwestern and interior areas of Viti Levu—like your neighbor’s dog who’s just spotted an intruder! This includes our friends in Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, the interiors of Ra, Nadroga, and Navosa. Be ready to sing “Singing in the Rain” in a major way, because it looks like it’s coming in with a splash!
As for the situation, we’ve got a friendly southeast wind flow hanging out with us, while a weak trough of low pressure is planning to roll in over the southern and eastern parts tomorrow. It’s like the weather’s throwing a little party, and everyone’s invited!
Here’s the forecast breakdown until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Today:
You may encounter some fine weather—great for sunbathing, except for the brief showers making surprise appearances in the interior and eastern parts of the larger islands. And keep your eyes peeled for isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms, especially in the interior and southern parts of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu—better check your outdoor plans!
Tomorrow:
Expect cloudy periods bringing showers over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra-Rakiraki, Kadavu, and across our smaller islands. The southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups will join the cloud party as well. Elsewhere? Don’t worry, you might just have a fine day with only a sprinkle of afternoon or evening showers. Just be on alert for those heavy falls that like to crash the party!
The winds will be moderating from the southeast, while the seas will be moderate too—so if you’re a fish, now’s your time!
