Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! A lazy trough of low pressure has decided to take a vacation over the southern parts of our beautiful country. It’s bringing along some cloud cover and showers that will lightly drench the eastern half of Fiji for the next few days—because who doesn’t love a dramatic sky?
Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group: Expect occasional showers and a few lively thunderstorms that might just give your heart a little jump scare. Isolated heavy downpours could sweep through Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri and Ra, as well as southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Kadavu and their near-peers like Lau and Lomaiviti. The showers may crank up to full-blown rain in the evening, so make sure your raincoat doesn’t have any holes in it! Oh, and don’t forget—a severe thunderstorm could join the party in the afternoon, because, why not?
Meanwhile, keep an eye out for flash flooding in low-lying areas; Mother Nature can be a bit extra, especially when she’s had a few heavy falls. The winds will be moderate to fresh, possibly gusty during the thunderstorms, adding a bit of flair to your bad hair day. The seas will have a moderate to rough personality, so if you’re thinking about a dip in the ocean, check with your inner mermaid first!
Looking ahead to Sunday: Prepare for more of the same! Occasional showers and a few electrifying thunderstorms with heavy falls will bless the eastern half of Viti Levu and other island groups. As night falls, the showers may switch gears into full-on rain, maintaining the suspense.
For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Expect occasional showers and boom-boom thunderstorms that could get heavy. The rain might keep you company in the evening, so cozy up!
For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: You’ll be living the fine life, just with some afternoon showers and thunderstorms throwing in extra weight.
For the Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Brace for cloudy moments with quick showers and maybe an afternoon or evening thunderstorm that is feeling a bit grumpy.
For Tavua/Rakiraki and Yasawa/Mamanuca: It’s mostly fine, apart from sneaky afternoon showers and the occasional thunderstorm that thinks it’s the star of the show.
For Labasa: Partly cloudy with slight grin-inducing showers and a few thunderstorms that promise to bring their A-game.
For Savusavu: Keep your rain gear handy for occasional showers and few sassy thunderstorms. Those evening showers could ramp up to serious rainfall—exciting stuff!
For Lau/Lomaiviti and Kadavu: Expect the same mix of occasional showers and a few raucous thunderstorms that could lead to some heavy falls.
For Rotuma: A familiar pattern of occasional heavy showers and a few rebellious thunderstorms will be your companions, offset by a decent breeze.
And there you have it! Don’t forget the raincoat, and maybe do a little rain dance in case the cloud cover needs encouragement!
