Weather Update

Good morning, Fiji! Grab your umbrellas and your sense of adventure because we’ve got some shifting weather patterns coming our way!

Fortunately, the severe thunderstorm warning for heavy rainfall has been cancelled for the interior and southern parts of Viti Levu, so you can put away the flotation devices… for now! But don’t let down your guard just yet; a trough of low pressure is creeping in from the west, arriving fashionably late today—a bit like your cousin who always shows up after the party starts!

Currently, we’re enjoying a delightful warm and humid embrace courtesy of our friendly moist northeast winds. Think of it as Mother Nature’s way of giving us a big, sweaty hug!

So, what’s on the weather menu for today? For Navua, Suva, Nausori, and surrounding areas (and anyone else who enjoys a good thunderous rumbling), get ready for a dish of “Cloudy days with a side of afternoon thunderstorms”—hold the drought! Locally heavy rainfalls may lead to flash flooding, so let’s hope your sandals don’t float.

For those chilling in Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba, you might see some part-time clouds popping in, only to be joined by a potential torrential downpour or two later. Talk about a party crasher!

Here’s a quick tour of what to expect across the islands:
– Yasawa/Mamanuca: Cloudy with afternoon showers and some electrifying thunderstorms. Feel free to throw in a dramatic lightning dance if you’re into that sort of thing!
– Tavua/Rakiraki: Cloudy vibes are here with showers and those dramatic afternoon fireworks (thunderstorms) expected to crash the scene.
– Savusavu will also be sharing the cloudy celebration with showers and thunderstorms. Who doesn’t love a good stormy bash?

And over at Rotuma, the low-pressure trough is hanging out for the day, so expect more clouds than sunshine and the occasional rumble of thunder, just to keep things interesting.

As we look to Friday, expect a sequel! More clouds followed by showers, thunder, and oh yes—our old friends, heavy rainfalls, popping up again like surprise guests at a well-planned dinner party.

So, keep those umbrellas handy and your rain dances at the ready because it looks like the weather has quite the show planned for us all! Stay safe and enjoy the rhythm of the rain!
