Alert! The thunderstorm party has been canceled! That’s right. The severe thunderstorm warning that had residents of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu preparing their umbrellas for a wild night has been officially called off. So, you can stow away those rain boots for now, but don’t throw them out just yet!
Looking at the skies, we see a friendly north to northeast wind happily greeting Fiji. It seems a low-pressure system to the south wants to join the gathering, and it’s bringing along a moist northwest wind to spice things up starting tomorrow.
What can you expect until midnight? Well, get ready for cloudy periods sprinkled with a few showers and the occasional lightning show over Viti Levu (that’s the interior folks!) stretching all the way from Sigatoka through Navua and right up to Korovou and Suva. Expect a similar fuzzy sky over southern parts of Vanua Levu, including places like Savusavu and Dreketi, with localized heavy rain that might just try and multitask as flash floods in low-lying areas.
For Lau and Lomaiviti groups, the clouds are in town with showers and sporadic thunderstorms lighting up the sky. The rest of the islands can look forward to some sunshine, sprinkled sporadically with afternoon or evening showers and maybe a thunderstorm dropping by for a short visit.
As the sun exits stage left tomorrow, rain will start making its entrance from the west, slowly cascading through the islands’ offerings. And let’s not forget those moderate to fresh north to northeast winds, which will decide to twirl around to the northwest. So, hold on tight to your hats!
Looking ahead to Friday:
We’re expecting quite the show with occasional rain in the Western Division, Macuata, and Northern Bua province, along with our friends in Kadavu, Lau, and Lomaiviti. Yes, some localized heavy falls are ready to keep everyone on alert for those flash floods in low spots.
For specific spots:
– **Navua/Suva/Nausori**: Cloudy shenanigans with showers and isolated thunderstorms, possibly leading to some muddy mischief.
– **Nadi/Lautoka/Ba**: Mostly fine, but don’t be surprised if they decide to join the party with afternoon showers or thunderstorms.
– **Sigatoka/Coral Coast**: Cloudy and shower-prone with some thunderstorms crashing in.
– **Tavua/Rakiraki/Yasawa/Mamanuca**: Fine with a chance of those cheeky showers making an appearance.
– **Labasa**: Clear skies but afternoon/evening showers might rain on your parade.
– **Savusavu & Lau/Lomaiviti**: Get ready for some cloudy, rainy interactions, complete with thunderstorms.
– **Rotuma**: It’s cloudy there too, along with a few light showers and some thunderstorms wishing to join the celebration.
So there you have it, folks! Pack your umbrellas, find your raincoats, but also keep those sunglasses handy because you never know what kind of weather Fiji will throw your way!
