Illustration of Watch out for severe thunderstorms and heavy rain – Fiji Met

Travelers in the western region of Viti Levu, including areas from Sigatoka to Momi, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Navua, Suva, and the southern areas of Vanua Levu, should be alert for severe thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rainfall. The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued warnings for these locations and advises the public to exercise caution.

Residents are urged to stay away from flooded creeks and drains and to refrain from attempting to walk, bike, or drive through floodwaters. In preparation for the severe weather, it is also recommended to unplug electronic devices and appliances, remain indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets safe indoors.

While these warnings may cause concern, they also serve as a reminder of the importance of community awareness and preparedness during extreme weather events. Following safety precautions can help minimize risks and ensure the well-being of everyone in the affected areas. It’s a good time for communities to come together, support one another, and stay informed about updates from local weather services.
