Eight individuals were transported to Korovou Hospital after a tragic collision involving a container trailer and a minibus. The incident took place around midday near Lokuya Hill, close to Verata Junction along King’s Road.
The drivers of both vehicles, along with six passengers from the minibus, received medical treatment at the hospital. This alarming incident drew the attention of the Fiji Police Force, particularly Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, who stressed the need for Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers to exercise increased caution on the roads.
“This marks the second occurrence this week involving PSVs, and innocent passengers are unfortunately becoming victims in these situations,” SSP Divuana remarked. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is currently ongoing.
It’s vital to acknowledge the serious nature of road safety and the importance of vigilance, especially among PSV drivers. As the investigation progresses, it is hoped that measures will be implemented to further safeguard passengers and reduce the likelihood of similar incidents in the future.
