Weather Update
Brought to you directly from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, just in time for your weekend plans!

Warning: The Fiji Group is under the influence of some rather boisterous rain that’s not shy about showing up uninvited. Yes, that’s right, a HEAVY RAIN WARNING is still going strong!

What’s Cooking: Picture this: an active trough of low pressure (also known as Mother Nature’s mood swing) is showering its love all over Fiji. Right now, we’re experiencing a sweet serenade of clouds and rain, while those southwest to northerly winds are blowing a little cheeky breeze our way.

Forecast Until Midnight Tomorrow: Expect periods of rain that may just get a bit TOO friendly (heavy at times, that is) with a sprinkling of thunderstorms in the Yasawa, Mamanuca, Viti Levu, Kadavu, and nearby islands. The rain should lighten up to gentle showers later today – like the weather is saying, “Don’t worry, I’ll take it easy on you!”

As you move farther afield, you’ll find the same rainy trend, with periodic heavy bouts and the possibility of some raucous thunder joining the party. Just a heads up, localized heavy falls could lead to some flash floods in lower-lying areas, so keep an eye out for your inflatable pool floaties!

The Weekend Outlook for Sunday: While clouds may try to steal the spotlight and sprinkle some showers over the southern parts of Viti Levu, imagine a little more sunshine peeking through in other areas. However, those afternoon or evening showers might still crash the party. Winds will be moderately fresh, and seas will be moderate to rough – so maybe save the surfing for a calmer day!

Spotlight on Specific Areas:

– Navua / Suva / Nausori: Prepare for another round of rain, heavy at times, easing to some showery bits later.

– Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Same story here – rain will be heavy and friendly before easing later.

– Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Get ready for more rain with possible thunder. Don’t worry, it too will ease later so you can return to that sunny vibe.

– Tavua/Rakiraki: Expect the wet stuff to join in before softening later on.

– Natadradave/Korovou: Rainy periods leading to lighter showers later on.

– Yasawa/Mamanuca: You guessed it – heavy rain at first, lightening up later.

– Labasa: Another heavy rain episode easing later on.

– Savusavu: More of that heavy rain mixed with some thunder, but things will ease soon.

– Lau/ Lomaiviti: The friendly rainy period will ease up as well.

– Kadavu: More rain hanging around before softening.

– Rotuma: You’ll be treated to occasional showers and maybe some thunder, as a low-pressure trough flits by.

In short, keep your umbrellas handy and maybe some floaties too – just in case the weather decides to throw a surprise pool party! Enjoy your weekend, rain or shine!
