Eight individuals were taken to Korovou Hospital following a serious accident involving a collision between a container trailer and a minibus. The incident occurred around midday near Lokuya Hill, close to Verata Junction along King’s Road.
Both drivers, along with six passengers from the minibus, were promptly transported to the hospital for medical attention.
In light of this accident, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic for the Fiji Police Force, has urged all Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers to exercise greater caution while on the roads. “This is the second incident this week involving PSVs, and the innocent passengers are becoming victims on our roads,” remarked SSP Divuana.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the details of the accident to ensure road safety measures are optimized moving forward.
