Waisale Serevi, renowned as the King of Sevens, is set to join the coaching staff for the Fiji Sports Council (FSC) Under-20 rugby team as they prepare for a tour in New Zealand later this month. The announcement was made as the team began their training camp.

Serevi, who boasts an illustrious career in rugby, has committed to assisting the Under-20 sevens squad following a meeting with FSC’s acting Chief Executive Officer, Gilbert Vakalalabure. His involvement promises to infuse the young players with invaluable experience, enthusiasm, and deep insights into the game.

The FSC expressed optimism about Serevi’s role, stating that his coaching will significantly enhance the future of Fijian rugby. The Under-20 team was selected from a series of competitions held over five locations, starting in Navua and concluding in Suva’s HFC Bank stadium on November 30.

Sireli Bobo, the head coach, emphasized that the primary aim is to develop players from the grassroots level to prepare them to excel on larger stages. The team is scheduled to depart for New Zealand on January 29.
