Waisale Serevi, renowned as the King of Sevens, is set to join Sireli Bobo’s coaching team for the Fiji Sports Council (FSC) Under-20 squad ahead of their tour to New Zealand this month. The FSC announced this news as the team commenced their training camp.

Serevi expressed his enthusiasm to aid the Under-20 sevens team following a discussion with acting Chief Executive Officer, Gilbert Vakalalabure. With his extensive experience and insight into the game, Serevi is eager to share his knowledge with the young athletes.

The addition of Serevi to the coaching staff is expected to significantly benefit the players, bringing a wealth of expertise and a fervent passion for rugby. The FSC emphasizes that this move enhances the prospects for the future of Fijian rugby, fostering the development of young talent.

The team was formed from the FSC U20 sevens series, which included five rounds of competitions across various locations, culminating at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on November 30. With a focus on nurturing players from grassroots levels, Bobo highlighted the objective of preparing these athletes to succeed on larger platforms.

The FSC Under-20 squad is scheduled to depart for New Zealand on January 29, aiming to compete and gain invaluable experience on this international stage.

This partnership between veteran players and emerging talent highlights a promising future for rugby in Fiji, as experienced players like Serevi dedicate their time to mentoring the next generation.
