The Fiji Roads Authority has announced that the temporary bypass at Semo Village along the Queens Highway is nearing completion, with plans to open it to motorists at midnight today.

The Authority expressed gratitude for the strong support from local communities during the construction period, particularly highlighting the contributions of residents from Semo and Nalele villages. Special commendation was given to the landowners of Semo for their prompt access to the site, which allowed construction to commence without delays, as well as to the villagers of Nalele for their assistance with traffic management.

As the bypass is set to open, the Authority urges motorists to exercise caution and adhere to all safety signage in the area. This new route comes in response to ongoing challenges linked to the aging road network in the country. The FRA noted that similar upgrades along the Nadi-Sigatoka corridor have already been completed, with critical infrastructure development being a significant focus of its long-term strategy.

The Authority also thanked the public for their patience and cooperation during the emergency works, emphasizing the importance of community collaboration in improving road safety and infrastructure. The completion of the bypass marks a positive step forward in addressing transportation challenges and enhancing connectivity in the region.
