A thrilling 2-2 draw in a crucial Group A match between Suva and Navua on the second day of the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) keeps both teams in contention for a semifinal position. Both sides entered the match needing a vital result after losing their opening games to Labasa and Lautoka, each by a score of 3-1.
Suva displayed sharp performance early in the match, scoring two goals in quick succession at the 8th and 29th minutes, with Samuela Drudru and Solomon Islander Gagame Feni finding the back of the net. Just before halftime, Navua managed to close the gap with a stunning free-kick from Kolinio Sivoki that left Suva’s goalkeeper, Akuila Mateisuva, powerless.
As the teams headed into the break, Suva led 2-1. However, a defensive error from Remueru Tekiate allowed Thomas Dunn to capitalize, leveling the match with a precise finish midway through the second half.
With this draw, both teams earn a point each and will need victories in their final matches to enhance their chances of reaching the semifinals. Flick Hygiene Suva is set to face Flick Hygiene Lautoka at 8pm, while Stratum Construction/Zeg Investment Navua will take on Extra Supermarket Labasa at 4pm.
