Spectators at tomorrow’s Vodafone Deans Championship and Weet-Bix Raluve semi-finals at HFC Stadium in Suva have been warned to watch their language and behavior or risk removal from the venue as security is tightened for the high-stakes rugby weekend.

FSSRU vice president Biu Colati said the message has already been relayed to schools via team managers and will be strictly enforced on game day. “We’ve reiterated this during our briefings. Spectators must operate within a controlled community,” Colati stated.

Security arrangements are robust: 40 Fiji Sports Council security personnel will be on duty, alongside 40 teachers forming part of the security team. A full rehearsal was conducted on Thursday to test the plan. In a show of cross-agency cooperation, the Fiji Police Force will provide strong support, with officers stationed on the field, at the gates, at Muanikau Police Post, and at the National Gymnasium.

Colati warned that anyone using foul language toward students or behaving in a way that could provoke fights or hatred will be immediately removed. “Spectators acting rowdy will be ejected. We have clear communication channels to alert the authorities quickly,” he added.

With capacity crowds anticipated and the tense nature of the matches, the FSSRU is urging fans to show respect, enjoy the rugby, and keep the spotlight on the players.

Context and value added:
– The security measures are part of a broader, ongoing effort to safeguard young athletes and fans during Fiji’s school rugby events, consistent with prior deployments of police presence, transport monitoring, and rapid response protocols seen around Deans weekend.
– The coordinated approach between the FSSRU, Fiji Sports Council, teachers, and police reflects a community-focused strategy to balance excitement with safety, ensuring families can attend with confidence.

Summary:
Security for the Vodafone Deans Championship and Weet-Bix Raluve semi-finals in Suva is being tightened, with a substantial multi-agency security presence and clear conduct rules aimed at protecting students and spectators while allowing the weekend’s rugby to proceed smoothly.

Positive note:
The joint effort demonstrates the community’s commitment to nurturing Fiji’s young rugby talents while prioritising safe, respectful participation for families and supporters.
