Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has commended a security guard at CWM Hospital for his attentiveness during an unannounced visit. The guard requested the Prime Minister remove his hat upon entering the hospital, emphasizing the establishment’s rules. Mr. Rabuka noted that had more individuals been as vigilant as this guard, issues surrounding the hospital’s malfunctioning lifts might have been mitigated.

In a social media update, Mr. Rabuka reflected on the visit that took place last Saturday, where he inspected the lifts due to numerous complaints raised by the public over various platforms. He mentioned the guard’s comments in Fijian, saying, “Ni luvata nomuni isala; e tabu na vakaisala e ke,” which translates to “remove your hat. Hats are not allowed here.”

Mr. Rabuka expressed that such surprise visits should be expected, considering ongoing concerns reported through newspapers and social media. He further communicated the importance of addressing the hospital’s challenges, particularly the lift situation, to Health Minister Dr. Atonio Lalabalavu. The Minister assured him that progress was being made, with at least one elevator operational.

This incident highlights the significant role that diligence plays in maintaining standards within public facilities. By acknowledging the security guard’s attentiveness, Prime Minister Rabuka is reinforcing the importance of accountability and carefulness in all sectors, especially in healthcare. It is a reminder that every individual contributes to the overall effectiveness of public services, encouraging a collective effort to address issues efficiently.

In summary, Mr. Rabuka’s recognition of the security guard not only demonstrates leadership but also emphasizes the necessity for a proactive approach in improving hospital conditions, which ultimately benefits all patients and staff.
