The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its appreciation to the New Zealand Government for effectively coordinating all arrangements for Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s visit. This statement comes in response to certain media members who used racist stereotypes regarding images of two New Zealanders in the Prime Minister’s security detail. Fiji’s High Commission to New Zealand clarified that these individuals were part of a larger team representing diverse segments of New Zealand society. The High Commission commended the professionalism, openness, and meticulousness of the team, noting that all members of the New Zealand security detail were provided by the New Zealand Government. They added that the Prime Minister’s visit occurred smoothly, despite some alterations to the agenda.
