Secure Your Ride: The Hidden Dangers of Leaving Keys in the Ignition

The Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, has issued a warning to the public regarding the dangers of leaving vehicles unattended with their keys in the ignition. This advice follows two incidents in which vehicles were stolen after suspects found them with the keys still inside.

ACP Driu emphasized that criminals often take advantage of such situations and urged vehicle owners to exercise greater caution and ensure their vehicles are securely locked at all times. He stated, “Opportunists have no regard for anyone when they intend to commit a crime, and this also affects victims’ families if they are present in the vehicle.”

He also noted that once a theft report is made, police will set up checkpoints to prevent the stolen vehicle from being used in further criminal activities.
