Scouts Unite for Gender Equality at National Jamboree 2024

All scouts in Fiji have been urged by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere to actively engage in efforts aimed at ensuring gender equality across all programs and to extend support to vulnerable groups, especially the elderly. Speaking at the opening of the National Scout Jamboree 2024 at Lawaqa Park, the President addressed over 2,200 scouts, leaders, and volunteers, highlighting that scout jamborees are important for building friendships and providing scouts with opportunities to showcase their skills in various activities such as cooking, cleaning, knotting, and hiking.

President Katonivere acknowledged the contributions of scout leaders, most of whom are teachers, for their continuous support and mentorship. He emphasized, “Although it is a significant sacrifice, as scouts, we have pledged to work toward this goal in order to help our youth develop into good citizens in the future.”
