All scouts in Fiji have been urged by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere to get involved in initiatives aimed at ensuring gender equality across all programs, as well as to support vulnerable groups, especially the elderly.
During the opening of the National Scout Jamboree 2024 at Lawaqa Park, President Katonivere addressed over 2,200 scouts, leaders, and volunteers, emphasizing that scout jamborees are opportunities to build friendships and allow scouts to showcase their talents in activities such as cooking, cleaning, knot tying, hiking, among others.
He also acknowledged the contributions of scout leaders, many of whom are teachers, for their continuous guidance and leadership.
“While it requires significant sacrifice, we have committed ourselves as scouts to work towards this goal to nurture our youth into responsible citizens for the future,” he stated.
