Scotland’s defense coach, Steve Tandy, anticipates a more dynamic strategy from the Flying Fijians in their upcoming match, acknowledging that while they may incorporate more kicking, their signature handling skills remain a significant threat. Tandy stated, “They still possess the ability for offloads and powerful running through the middle. They have definitely enhanced their kicking game, which means they pose threats from all angles.” He noted that unexpected moments could arise during the match, where even a well-organized defense could be challenged by a stunning offload.

On a positive note for Scotland, the team is boosted by the return of talented winger Darcy Graham, who is set to play after a lengthy absence due to injuries. Graham’s comeback is particularly timely as the team prepares for the Autumn Nations Series, featuring matches against Fiji, South Africa, Portugal, and Australia at Murrayfield. Tandy expressed enthusiasm for Graham’s return, highlighting his recent outstanding performances at his club, Edinburgh.

Graham, now 27, is among Scotland’s top try-scorers, currently sitting third on the all-time list with 24 tries. He will be eager to add to his tally after a challenging two years marred by injuries. His last international tries came during the World Cup in September 2023 against Romania, where he impressively scored four times. The team is hopeful that Graham will regain his form and contribute significantly to Scotland’s success in the upcoming fixtures.

The excitement surrounding Graham’s return can uplift the team’s morale and performance, possibly setting the stage for a memorable series.
