Schools across the Northern Division, Lau Group, and Lomaiviti remain temporarily closed due to ongoing disruptions to essential services and the water supply, coupled with the dangers posed by Tropical Cyclone Rae. This decision was confirmed by the Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, who stated that the closures are a precautionary measure aimed at prioritizing the safety of students during the adverse weather conditions impacting these regions.

In contrast, educational institutions in the Western and Central Divisions are set to continue operations. However, parents are encouraged to use their discretion regarding sending their children to school amidst the current weather uncertainties. The Ministry of Education has underscored the necessity of communication during this period, urging school leaders to maintain close contact with their Management Committees and local authorities to obtain timely updates.

This proactive strategy reflects the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to ensuring student safety during severe weather, a consistent approach seen in past incidents. As communities face these challenges, there remains optimism that with effective communication and mutual support, families will successfully navigate this period.

Emphasizing solidarity in the face of adversity is essential, and the Ministry’s strong focus on preparedness will help facilitate a smooth transition for students back into their education once conditions improve.
