The Education Ministry has announced the reopening of schools in the Lau Group after careful evaluation of the situation following the recent impact of Tropical Cyclone Rae. Education Minister Aseri Radrodro expressed his relief and satisfaction in informing students, parents, and teachers that classes can resume as normal. He extended his gratitude to the Lau Group communities for their resilience and patience during these challenging days.

Schools in the Northern Division, Lomaiviti, Western, Central Divisions, and Rotuma have already resumed operations as scheduled since the cyclone. However, parents are encouraged to assess local conditions and make informed decisions regarding the safety of sending their children back to school.

The Ministry of Education remains vigilant in monitoring the situation closely and advises school leaders to maintain open lines of communication with their Management Committees and local authorities. This ensures everyone stays informed and prepared as the community recovers from the cyclone’s effects.

The reopening represents a hopeful step towards recovery and stability in the education sector, illustrating the strength and unity of the affected communities. As families and educational institutions work together, there is optimism that the resilience shown during the aftermath of the cyclone will pave the way for a swift return to normalcy in education, benefiting both students and their families.
