The Education, Heritage and Arts Minister, Aseri Radrodro, has expressed serious concern about a partially constructed building at Nabua Secondary School, highlighting it as a safety issue for the school. This concern comes in the wake of a recent fire at John Wesley College, prompting Radrodro to investigate similar risks at other schools across Fiji.
The completion of the building at Nabua Secondary School has been stalled due to a management change. Radrodro assured that the Ministry will work closely with the school’s board and the new management to expedite the construction process. He emphasized the importance of addressing these issues and noted that the government is ready to provide assistance if requested through the Ministry of Education.
Radrodro also confirmed that examinations at John Wesley College will proceed as scheduled. He received assurance from the school’s Head that operations will continue normally, with possible adjustments made for internal examinations in coordination with the school’s administration.
This proactive approach reflects a commitment to not only addressing the immediate safety concerns but also ensuring that educational activities remain uninterrupted, demonstrating a collaborative effort to enhance safety and learning environments in Fiji.
The situation underscores the importance of timely communication and cooperation between the Ministry of Education and school management, which could lead to improved infrastructure and safety in schools. With continued diligence, there is hope for a swift resolution that benefits students and educators alike.
