“School Photography Policy Raises Concerns”

Teachers are prohibited from taking pictures of children in schools without the explicit consent of a parent or guardian, according to Selina Kuruleca, the permanent secretary for the Ministry of Education.

Ms. Kuruleca stated that a circular has been distributed to schools to remind teachers of this regulation. “I can confirm that photos cannot be taken without written explicit consent from a parent or guardian,” she affirmed.

Addressing inquiries on this matter, she noted that some schools are failing to adhere to this rule. “Most schools are aware and have these rules in place from the beginning of the year,” she mentioned.

This issue came to light during a school visit by this newspaper for coverage of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

“Some schools do not follow this rule, so the circular was sent as a reminder to teachers,” Ms. Kuruleca added. She emphasized the necessity for strict adherence to this policy by all teachers in schools.
