Police have arrested and charged two Year 10 students who were allegedly caught with drugs last week. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, confirmed that the discovery occurred at the students’ schools.
The two 16-year-old students were found with sachets of marijuana; one is enrolled in a school in Suva, while the other attends a school in Sigatoka. Driu emphasized that drug offenses are treated seriously and considered irreconcilable. He stated, “Anyone found engaging in these acts will be charged, and we will take reports seriously. We are stressing the importance of parental support and how it must be strengthened.”
In a separate incident, a 65-year-old woman was charged and brought before the court after being found in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana on September 15. Driu noted that the drugs were discovered during a raid at the woman’s home in Lautoka, where methamphetamine was recovered.
