The recently completed Sawani foot crossing in Naitasiri has been officially handed over to the village, enhancing safety and accessibility for 349 residents across 60 households. This new infrastructure particularly benefits women, children, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities.
Sakiasi Ditoka, the outgoing Minister for Rural and Maritime Development, emphasized the project’s role in bolstering community connectivity and improving disaster preparedness. He praised the strong collaboration among the church, local leaders, and the government that made the initiative possible.
This project is part of the ministry’s ongoing commitment to engage rural communities, address local development needs, and improve the delivery of government services. The completion of the Sawani foot crossing not only exemplifies governmental support but also fosters a sense of community resilience, ensuring that residents are better equipped to navigate natural challenges ahead.
