The Ministry of Health and Medical Services is preparing to enhance medical services at Savusavu Hospital with the installation of a new X-ray machine anticipated to arrive in June. This decision comes in response to concerns raised by patients regarding the hospital’s non-functional X-ray machine in the Radiology Unit, which has been out of service for two months.
In a recent statement, the ministry confirmed that their biomedical team is currently addressing software issues and has arranged for the temporary use of a Portable Digital X-ray machine to meet immediate service demands at the hospital. Meanwhile, patients requiring X-ray examinations are being referred to Labasa Hospital or private facilities in Savusavu.
In addition to the X-ray machine, the hospital’s Laboratory Unit is facing challenges with a non-functional Haematology Analyzer. The ministry is working on securing a replacement for this machine as well, while essential tests such as basic biochemistry and serology are still being conducted.
The Ministry emphasizes the importance of patients continuing to seek medical care at Savusavu Hospital as they work diligently to restore full radiology and laboratory services.
This proactive approach by the Ministry of Health reflects a commitment to improving healthcare access and quality for the Savusavu community. With the impending arrival of new equipment, there is hope for enhanced diagnostic capabilities that will ultimately benefit patients in need of medical attention.
In summary, the community’s concerns have prompted essential upgrades in medical services, which is a positive step toward ensuring better healthcare delivery.
