The BLK Lavidi Brothers, the reigning champions of the Fiji Bitter Savusavu 7s, are gearing up to face formidable opponents as they attempt to retain their title at this year’s tournament in Savusavu. Last year, the Lavidi Brothers secured the main cup prize of $10,000, but this year they will be challenged by a lineup of skilled teams, notably the Viti Roofing Devo Babas, who recently emerged victorious at the Labasa 7s.

The Devo Babas are in excellent form and will aim to harness that momentum as they compete against the defending champions. Other notable contenders include Wardens Gold, Police Blue, Police White, and DXC Army Green, all of whom have been well-prepared and possess the ability to disrupt the Lavidi Brothers’ quest for glory.

Pita Ralaca, a member of the organizing committee, has confirmed that these competitive teams have secured their participation in the tournament, which will unfold from Thursday to Saturday at Ganilau Park in Savusavu. A total of 32 men’s teams will compete for the $10,000 prize, along with an additional $2,000 designated for the under 18–21 category, which is fully booked with 16 teams ready to vie for their share of the rewards. Furthermore, eight women’s teams are set to compete for a $1,000 prize in their division.

As the tournament approaches, rugby enthusiasts can look forward to an exhilarating three-day event filled with high-stakes matches, where the Lavidi Brothers will strive to defend their title amidst fierce competition from hungry challengers.

In conclusion, this year’s Fiji Bitter Savusavu 7s promises to be an action-packed tournament that showcases the best of rugby talent, highlighting the spirit of competition and the thrill of sporting achievements.
