After a two-year hiatus, super welterweight boxer Junior Saula is eager to make his return to the ring. The 29-year-old fighter will compete this Saturday in the 70kg weight class.
Saula expressed his determination from Labasa, stating, “It is time that I break out of my shell and show my worth. I have been away for two years; this is a comeback for me.”
He will participate in the South Pacific Boxing Promotion event at Subrail Park in Labasa, facing Natewa Bay newcomer, Kali Vakalalabure, in a six-round bout. Saula has experience from four professional matches, achieving two knockouts alongside two losses. In contrast, his amateur career remains unblemished, with three knockout victories.
Saula is focused on delivering a strong performance, saying, “I am going in the fight looking for a knockout.” He detailed his preparation, mentioning that he has spent the last three months undergoing intensive boxing training. “Nat Ledua helped me with my training and taught me some tactics, while my brothers at home served as sparring partners.”
He acknowledged the challenge posed by his upcoming opponent, emphasizing, “My opponent is going to bring his A-game to impress fans, but I am ready. I wish to thank the Fiji Boxing Commission for bringing this fight to Labasa, allowing Northerners the opportunity to witness quality boxing.”
