Samoa’s Young Captain McFarland Prepares for Fijian Clash

Manu Samoa captain Theo McFarland expressed pride in leading his team against the Flying Fijians in the Pacific Nations Cup opener at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. In an interview with SUNsports, the 28-year-old lock, who plays for Saracens in the Gallagher Premiership, acknowledged the significant challenge ahead while valuing the opportunity to captain his side.

McFarland noted the strength of the Flying Fijians, stating, “The Flying Fijians are a very good side. We are a young side but we will look at our defence, especially coming up against Fiji. We are looking at areas where we can exploit and use against our Fijian brothers.”

Samoa’s head coach, Mahoni Schwalger, described McFarland as a young captain facing a critical test in leading his team into competition. He praised McFarland’s ability to manage the captaincy effectively, providing guidance and support to his teammates.
