Samoa’s Rising Star: McFarland Ready for Fiji Showdown

Manu Samoa captain Theo McFarland expressed his pride in leading his team against the Flying Fijians in the opening match of the Pacific Nations Cup at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. In a recent interview, the 28-year-old lock, who plays for Saracens in the Gallagher Premiership, acknowledged the challenges ahead but emphasized his gratitude for the opportunity.

McFarland, who will be facing fellow player Eroni Mawi from the Flying Fijians, highlighted the strength of the Fijian side. He mentioned that even though Samoa is a young team, they will focus on their defensive strategies and look for ways to capitalize on opportunities against their Fijian counterparts.

Samoa head coach Mahoni Schwalger praised McFarland as a young captain facing a significant test in his leadership during the match. He commended McFarland for managing the captaincy effectively, guiding his teammates, and providing valuable insights as they prepare for the game.
