Samoa secured their spot in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup by defeating New Caledonia 2-0 in the semi-finals of the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship held in Suva. The game started with Samoa quickly taking the lead, as Holly Leapai scored the first goal just three minutes in, followed closely by a second goal from Kealia Nansen.
Although New Caledonia managed to regain their composure after the early setback, they struggled to penetrate Samoa’s strong defense. Despite multiple attempts and a few near misses, including shots that grazed the goal post, New Caledonia was unable to find the back of the net.
Samoa maintained pressure throughout the match, coming close to extending their lead with a free kick that hit the crossbar. The game ended with Samoa holding on to their 2-0 advantage, marking a significant victory that secures their historic entry into the upcoming World Cup.
