Samisoni Mara shone brightly at the closing ceremony for the Ba Golf Club’s 2024 season, which took place at the FSC Golf Club on Sunday evening. The talented golfer from Kadavu has been honing his skills just steps away from the course, which proved advantageous throughout the season.
Mara excelled in various competitions, clinching the monthly medal titles for both July and September. He also topped the B Grade category for the season and earned a silver medal in the Gold Rush tournament, along with recognition for the nearest to the pin.
In expressing his gratitude, Mara shared his thoughts on his achievements, stating, “I want to thank God for this award. For me, living beside the golf course makes it easy to practice, and I’ll come out stronger and better prepared next year.”
The 2024 season finale, sponsored by Amins Insurance Services and New India Assurance, showcased impressive performances from all participants. The Magic Breakers team won first place with a score of 53, featuring Anaya Saanvi, Prakrit Naidu, Divnesh Goundar, and Asish Chand. The Blues team followed closely with a score of 54, while the Amin Insurance team secured third with a score of 55.
Asish Chand emerged as the top competitor in the A Grade club championships, with Ashwin Sharma as the runner-up. Samisoni Mara led the B Grade category, finishing ahead of Brendan Daniel, and Prakrit Naidu won the C Grade.
In the prestigious Gold Rush competition, Rohit Chandra took home the gold medal, while Mara secured silver and Raven Kumar earned bronze. Mara’s remarkable year was marked by his wins in July and September’s monthly medal competitions, with other monthly medal winners being Raven Kumar, Damon Chen, and Rohit Chandra in the subsequent months.
Professional golfer Lotawa Delana was recognized with the longest drive award, rounding out a night filled with celebration and achievement.
This event not only highlighted individual talents but also fostered a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition among the golfers, promising an exciting future for the sport in the region.
