Hurricanes winger Salesi Rayasi may soon feature for the Flying Fijians as French club RC Vannes has confirmed signing the 27-year-old. Rayasi had prioritized playing for the All Blacks while contracted with the Hurricanes, but moving to France now frees him from that commitment.

In an April interview with SUNsports, Rayasi expressed his willingness to play for the Flying Fijians if approached. His father, Filipe Rayasi, represented Fiji in 13 Test matches.

Rayasi has an impressive record of 51 Super Rugby matches with the Hurricanes, including 33 starts and 30 tries. He also has notable performance statistics with Auckland in the NPC, scoring 40 tries in 52 games. Additionally, his athletic prowess has earned him selections for the New Zealand rugby 7s team. The two-season deal with RC Vannes will mark his first experience playing abroad.
