Salad Bowl Festival Set to Expand with Rugby and Volleyball!

The Salad Bowl netball festival is set to grow in 2025, as organizers plan to include rugby and volleyball in next year’s event. Judy Kumar, the president of the Salad Bowl netball festival, shared this development after this year’s successful festival, which featured 36 netball teams.

Kumar expressed excitement over the addition of these new sports, stating that they hope to invite teams from Australia to compete against local Western teams. The aim is to provide local teams with greater opportunities for competition and development.

“This event is not only about securing cash prizes, but it’s also about allowing development teams the chance to improve,” she noted. This year’s festival combined 12 Under-15 teams, 16 Open Grade teams, and 8 men’s teams, and the expansion is expected to enhance the experience even further next year.

Kumar also took a moment to thank the festival sponsors for their support in making this year’s festivities successful. She extended her gratitude to Coastal Rentals, Salad Bowl Island Hire for covering facility costs, KBL Buses, and Sigatoka River Safari’s Jay Whyte for their generous support, particularly in sponsoring cash prizes for the Under-15 grade and recognizing the two standout players. Additionally, she acknowledged the Fiji Sports Council for providing the venue.
