Saint Mary’s Shines Again at Labasa Athletics Zone!

Saint Mary’s Primary School successfully defended its title at the Fiji Primary Schools Labasa Athletics Zone competition held at Subrail Park. The school stood out with an impressive tally of 30 gold, 17 silver, and 8 bronze medals, bringing their overall total to 55 medals.

Head teacher Sunil Dutt expressed his gratitude to the 88 athletes for their hard work and dedication, which contributed to the school’s success. He also recognized the invaluable support from teachers, coaches, and parents, emphasizing that the competition was intense amongst the 17 participating schools. Dutt noted that this year’s performance surpassed last year’s medal count, highlighting improvement and effort.

Penaia Tunayau, the competition’s meet manager, acknowledged the organizing committee and teachers for ensuring the event ran smoothly without any major injuries or incidents. Despite facing heavy rain, the athletes demonstrated remarkable resilience, showcasing their skills and talents undeterred by the challenging weather.

Looking ahead, the winners are now preparing for the national meet scheduled for the end of the month in Suva, setting the stage for further competition and potential achievements.

This event not only celebrates the athletes’ hard work but also reflects the spirit and determination of young competitors, paving the way for future successes in athletics.
