Saint Mary’s Primary School Shines at Fiji Athletics Competition!

Saint Mary’s Primary School successfully defended its title at the Fiji Primary Schools Labasa Athletics Zone competition held at Subrail Park. The school showcased an impressive performance, securing a total of 55 medals, which included 30 gold, 17 silver, and 8 bronze.

Head teacher Sunil Dutt expressed his gratitude to the 88 athletes whose dedication contributed to this accomplishment. He extended his thanks to the teachers, coaches, and parents for their unwavering support, as well as praising the students for proudly representing the school. Dutt also noted that the school had achieved a higher medal count compared to the previous year.

Penaia Tunayau, the meet manager for the Fiji Primary Schools Labasa Athletics Zone competition, acknowledged the efforts of the organizing committee and teachers in ensuring the safety of participants, highlighting that there were no major injuries or accidents. Despite challenging weather conditions, with heavy rain on the day of the event, the athletes demonstrated remarkable determination in showcasing their skills.

Looking ahead, the winners from this competition will now turn their focus to the upcoming national meet scheduled for the end of this month in Suva.
