The National Occupational Health and Safety Service, part of the Employment Ministry, is initiating a preliminary investigation into an incident involving an amusement ride at the 2024 Hibiscus Festival.
On Sunday, September 1, the MG Rocket Ride malfunctioned when the turnbuckle for cart No. 3 broke, leading to a tilt of the cart.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as the safety belts and the ride’s structure remained secure.
The ride has been temporarily shut down while the investigation is underway.
Before the festival, the National Occupational Health and Safety Service had inspected and certified all rides, and their team has been actively monitoring operations since the festival commenced.
