Thousands of devotees and members of the public gathered to witness the 98th firewalking ceremony at the Howell Rd Sangam temple in Suva on Sunday afternoon.
Under the guidance of head priest Prakash Sivan, approximately 150 devotees participated in a week-long series of strict rituals leading up to the event.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Prof Biman Prasad remarked that Sangam temples serve as a source of inspiration and faith for all Hindus, not solely for the South Indian community.
“For Hindus, no building is more sacred than a Hindu temple. Over the past 100 years, this temple has not only been a place for worship but has also fostered community unity,” he said.
