Sabeto Celebrates Miss Hibiscus in Grand Style!

Melania Tora, crowned Miss Hibiscus, received a warm welcome during a traditional ceremony at her village in Sabeto, Nadi, on Saturday. The people of Sabeto, part of the Vanua o Betoraurau, celebrated her achievement in a grand manner, recognizing her role in promoting both her village of Nadi and the nation of Fiji globally, as noted by clan leader Kiniviliame Mokotanavanua.

The event was graced by Tui Sabeto, Ratu Viliame Mataitoga, who expressed pride in Ms. Tora’s accomplishments. “Your success shines as a beacon of hope and inspiration to so many,” Ratu Viliame remarked, adding his congratulations to Ms. Tora, whom he referred to as their “amazing vulau” or daughter.

Ms. Tora, who was sponsored by Tents and Awnings, won the title of Miss Hibiscus two weeks ago. During the celebration, Ratu Viliame stated, “You have shown to the world what it means to represent your roots with pride. You carry the spirit of our village in your heart, and we are so grateful for the way you have honored where you come from.”

He further emphasized that while her name may not be widely recognized, the identity of their vanua and the chiefly house of Na Momo na Tui Sabeto have gained prominence throughout Fiji and beyond, thanking her for raising awareness of her heritage.

In her speech, Ms. Tora expressed her gratitude to her chief and the community for their relentless support throughout the festival. “It was through your support, guidance, and prayers that I was able to achieve the Miss Hibiscus crown. Thank you,” she concluded.
