The government is intensifying its initiatives to enhance access to essential services in rural areas. Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, Sashi Kiran, emphasized that many communities face challenges in obtaining basic necessities such as clean water, sanitation, mobility aids, health support, and market opportunities.
During a community engagement session in Naitasiri, Kiran remarked, “When we listen to you, then only we know what assistance you can connect with. I’m glad we have the provincial office and our team here. Some of the things you have spoken about indicate the available assistance through various agencies.”
Kiran highlighted that the ministry’s efforts extend beyond just women and children, encompassing support for families, elders, and individuals living with disabilities. She assured attendees that the government is dedicated to coordinating efforts with other departments to provide necessary support where it is most needed.
The government is committed to actively listening to community needs, which will shape the development of policies and programs aimed at supporting families, young people, and vulnerable groups. This proactive approach demonstrates the administration’s focus on fostering inclusivity and addressing the specific challenges faced by rural populations. Through this commitment, there is hope for improved quality of life in these communities as essential services become more accessible.
