During his recent visit to the Wairiki district in Cakaudrove, Opposition Leader Inia Seruiratu focused on crucial issues such as rural electrification and infrastructure enhancement. The community raised significant concerns regarding the need for improvements at Wairiki Primary School and the overall infrastructure within the area.

According to a media release, Mr. Seruiratu engaged directly with residents to understand their grievances and assess recovery efforts since the devastating impact of Tropical Cyclone Yasa in December 2020, which ravaged vital infrastructure and homes. His presence in the community aimed to evaluate ongoing recovery and identify areas requiring additional support.

Community members expressed that better rural electrification could substantially elevate their living standards by providing access to modern amenities. They also emphasized the importance of upgrading bridges and crossings to ensure safe transportation, especially during adverse weather conditions. Additionally, a renewed focus on enhancing Wairiki Primary School was highlighted as essential for fostering a more conducive learning environment.

Mr. Seruiratu’s visit underscores the importance of addressing challenges faced by rural communities and ensuring they aren’t left behind in Fiji’s development plans. He remains committed to listening to the concerns of residents, witnessing their resilience, and advocating for policies that guarantee tangible benefits for Wairiki and similar communities across Fiji.

In summary, this visit reflects a proactive approach to engage with local issues, aiming to foster development and enhancement in the lives of residents, ultimately serving as a hopeful stride towards a brighter future for rural communities.
