An incident involving a GA-8 Airvan aircraft, with the registration DQ-VAN, took place at Yasawa Aerodrome on the morning of Saturday, December 21, 2024. The aircraft had taken off from Nadi Airport at 9:49 AM and unfortunately overran the runway upon landing.
Despite sustaining damage to its nose wheel and propeller, the aircraft came to a halt just beyond the runway. Fortunately, both the pilot and six passengers aboard were unharmed, and no injuries were reported.
Operations at Yasawa Aerodrome are continuing as normal, with the runway remaining open for aviation activities. In light of the incident, the Minister responsible for Tourism and Civil Aviation has initiated a full investigation. This inquiry will follow established protocols and align with international aviation standards, focusing on identifying measures to improve safety.
