Over 500 enthusiastic runners conquered the challenging Namosi Challenge, which took place today in the stunning highlands of Viti Levu. This fifth edition of the event, organized by the Suva Marathon Club in collaboration with the Namosi community, attracted a wide range of participants, showcasing the event’s growing popularity.

Among the competitors, 66 runners participated in the rigorous 21km Half Marathon, while another 124 athletes completed the 10km trail run. Additionally, 79 teams comprised of four runners each joined the 4x10km team marathon, collectively pushing their limits in a remarkable display of athleticism.

Nancy Simpson, the president of the Suva Marathon Club, expressed her pride in all participants, volunteers, and sponsors. “The Namosi Challenge has established itself as a key event on the Fiji adventure calendar, and this year’s challenge sold out six weeks ahead of time. It was inspiring to see runners of all ages and abilities enjoying the beautiful landscape and overcoming the challenges of the Namosi hills,” she remarked.

The event not only served as an intense physical challenge but also had a philanthropic angle. A portion of the entry fees is directed towards supporting the Namosi community’s efforts to build a vital bridge over the Wainikoroiluva River, significantly benefiting local residents by improving their access to essential services.

The Namosi Challenge continues to highlight Fiji’s breathtaking scenery while fostering community spirit and participation. Each year, the growing involvement and dedication from both locals and tourists reaffirm the challenge’s position as a charitable and adventurous highlight in Fiji’s event calendar.
