Filipe Saumaisue and his family made a memorable journey from Nawaikama Village in Gau to Suva to support his nephew, Judah Saumaisue, who recently made his debut for the ACT Brumbies. The family traveled overnight, arriving at Natovi Jetty on Thursday morning, just in time for Judah’s first appearance on the field.

Expressing gratitude to those who recognized Judah’s talent, Filipe mentioned, “I’m thankful to those that selected Judah as they saw his potential.” While some villagers were unable to attend in person, they proudly watched the match on television, further showcasing the community’s support.

Filipe conveyed optimism about Judah’s rugby career, stating, “Rugby will be the winner at the end of the day. I’m confident that Judah will progress in his rugby career.” He also acknowledged the strong rugby tradition in their family, highlighting that Judah was raised in a family passionate about the sport.

In addition to his nephew, Filipe admired Fijian Drua center Iosefo Masi for his performance, indicating a shared appreciation for the game’s stars. As Judah begins this new chapter, there is a collective sentiment among his family and community that this is just the beginning of a bright future in rugby for him.

This moment not only highlights the achievements of young athletes but also emphasizes the importance of family and community support in their journeys. With a rich history of talent in Fijian rugby, the dedication and passion exhibited by players like Judah Saumaisue provide hope for brighter prospects in the sport, inspiring future generations of rugby players from the islands.
