Waisea Nayacalevu, the captain of the Flying Fijians for the 2023 Rugby World Cup, has stated that there has been no communication from the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) following recent allegations of mismanagement. Nayacalevu expressed his concerns during a live podcast with social media blogger Lesi Vanuavou.
He mentioned that despite attempts to reach out, there has been no response from FRU officials. Nayacalevu revealed that he had spoken to Peter Mazey, the Chairman of the Fiji Rugby Union Trust Board, who initially agreed to a meeting with senior players but ultimately became unavailable at the last minute.
Nayacalevu emphasized the necessity for dialogue to address the emerging issues and called for accountability within the organization. He pointed out that emails have been sent to the FRU regarding unpaid salaries for matches played earlier this year against the Barbarians, Georgia, and the All Blacks.
