Rugby World Cup Captain Demands Accountability from Fiji Rugby Union

Waisea Nayacalevu, the captain of the Flying Fijians for the 2023 Rugby World Cup, has expressed concerns over the lack of communication from the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU). Despite efforts to address recent allegations of mismanagement within the union, Nayacalevu stated that they have received no updates from the FRU.

In a live podcast with social media influencer Lesi Vanuavou, Nayacalevu shared that he had reached out to FRU Trust Board Chairman Peter Mazey, who initially agreed to meet with senior players. However, Mazey became unavailable at the last minute, and since then, there has been no further contact.

Nayacalevu emphasized the necessity for dialogue and resolution of existing issues, stating, “We need to talk and iron out the issues.” He called for a thorough review of the situation and emphasized the importance of accountability.

Additionally, Nayacalevu mentioned that emails have been sent to the FRU regarding outstanding salaries for matches played earlier this year against teams such as the Barbarians, Georgia, and the All Blacks.
